Today after our quiz we did a worksheet requiring us to find the tangent line of the eclipse x^2/25 + x^2/9 = 1 at (3, 2.4). Next, we used the focus points of the eclipse at (-4,0) and (4,0) to come up with two lines intersecting the focus points (3,2.40. We then used the formula tanθ = (m1-m2 ) / 1+m1m2 This angle turned out to be 43°. Doctors use this formula to unlodge kidney stones. It doesn’t hurt, but it’s loud and having kidney stones does hurt, so make sure you don’t get too calcium; however, it is necessary to get enough calcium so you don’t get stress fractures.
